I was reading this post and thought it was a bloody good idea! I know loads of people have done spending bans, but I read this post at the right time.
I need to save money. I crashed and wrote off my car last week (ooops!) which I had only had for 7 months, so I still have a loan to pay on it! :( Boooo... I'm also having counselling sessions which are not cheap and I'm going away in November. I'm also trying to save for a house.
Over the past couple of months, I've realised that I spend too much money on things that I don't need or use, so I'm going to be really restrained and give myself a one month spending ban, starting from August 1st to August 30th. I dread to think how much I actually spend on materialistic things, which I really don't need so I'm going to be a good girl and get saving! I'm only doing a month because I literally have no willpower ;) haha.
I am banning myself from buying ANY make up, clothes, accessories, CD's, hair products, BUT, I will allow myself to buy replacement skin care products if I need to.
What do you guys think of this August spending ban? Let me know in the comments (or on twitter @Sophie_Louise6) if you're going to join in with this!

It's been a while since I've done a disappointing products post, so I thought I'd do one today! These aren't necessarily rubbish products, but things that are too over hyped in my opinion. Or don't work for me!
People had been saying it worked wonders on spots and blemish prone skin, and that they really noticed a difference in their skins appearance and texture as soon as they stopped using it. To me, it literally sounded like a miracle in a tube … Something that would sort out my oily, blemish prone, uneven skin would surely be worth the £13 price tag, but unfortunately, this ‘miracle’ didn’t work for me!
I started off using it all over my skin after cleansing and whilst it didn’t irritate my skin, it didn’t do anything good either, it seemed like an unnecessary part of my skin care routine… After a while I started using it on targeted areas for spots thinking it would make them disappear, or at least look less inflamed, but it didn’t!! I’ve also tried using it as a moisturiser and as a make up primer and it just didn’t seem to give great results regardless. I’ve used the entire tube now, but it’s taken a while and I won’t be repurchasing it. I just don’t get the hype with this, at all!!
Unfortunately, this foundation breaks me out more than any foundation I’ve EVER tried. At first I thought it was just the initial ‘purging’ stage you get sometimes when you try a new product, but the longer I kept wearing it, the more spots I got. They weren’t even little blemish, they were proper under the skin, extremely sore bright red spots! I tried mixing it with my Clinique stay matte foundation and that seemed to act as a barrier slightly but nothing too significant. I’ve used this on some clients, and they’ve had no problem with it at all, so it’s not a complete waste of money, I’m just slightly gutted that it dislikes my face! If anyone has any tips on how to stop it doing this, then let me know!
With lip balm underneath and a gloss on top, I find it a little easier to wear, but that’s a bit of a faff for an every day lipstick!
It basically claims to add crystal shine and feather touch to your hair but in my opinion that is rubbish!! I found it made my roots quite oily and gave me rather unflattering dry, flaky patches around my hairline. Not cool! I also really struggled to rinse it out as well, even when I thought it was rinsed out, I could still feel it in there!
I’ve probably been using this since March and I’ve still got over half of it left, which is good because at £18 you really do get your moneys worth. However, I don’t really see any benefits on my skin with using this. It hasn’t reduced any of my scars or redness which is a shame, because the Trilogy one did that so well. The only thing it really does, is adds the moisture back into my face which is good, yes, but I have other things that do the same at a fraction of the price. I’ve also noticed that when I massage it in to my face, it feels a little bit grainyand not smooth like most oils do on the face! I don’t know if that’s just me though? I really wish I liked it, but I don’t. Haha… I’ve just started using it on my hair though, and so far it seems to be looking very shiny and healthy looking, so maybe that’s the way to go with this?!
What products are you disappointed with? If you have Amy suggestions for making these work for me, then please do let me know in the comments!
