A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by the lovely Ben at Money Supermarket to see if I wanted to take part in a road trip challenge! Basically, the idea was to put £50 in my car and to show some of you the lovely areas there are to visit near me, for free!
I'm a Hampshire girl, born and bred and I've spent all my life in and around the city of Southampton and luckily for us, there are loads of free or super cheap things to do around here! Yay.
My friends and I took ourselves off to various locations throughout the day and I've taken a few snaps to show you all ;) first off, here is the little car we travelled in...
We took my little Betty, who is now unfortunately in the scrap yard, but she did us good for the journey ;)
First off, we decided to take a visit to The New Forest, which is a gorgeous place to visit for free, other than parking. If you love nature and horses, then you seriously need to visit this place! It's surrounded by green fields, cute quaint little pubs and restaurants and lakes! We took a picnic and sat by the horses and just chilled for a while enjoying the scenery.
This was all well and good until the little foal decided she wanted to share our lunch. Don't get me wrong, horses are super cute but they're kinda intimidating when they're shoving their faces at you!
Because we are children, we decided to muck about in one of the play areas ;) whoever said you're too old to climb trees and go on swings is lying! Promise...
After we walked round the majority of the forest, we hopped back in the car and headed to Lymington!! It's only a few miles from the forest but it is absolutely gorgeous! It's a little quayside town and I LOVE going there to look at the boats and dream about the houses I would buy if I had the money.
To finish off, we headed to Romsey to visit Carlos ice cream parlour which was just divine! It has just celebrated its 100 year anniversary which I think is pretty impressive! I thought the ice cream would be fairly expensive but its only around £1 for a cone! It was really busy on the day we went so service was slower than I would have liked, but that can't be helped :)
The best thing about this ice cream parlour was that it also sold rabbits and guinea pigs!!!!!! This was amazing and they had the cutest little ones EVER. I wanted to take them home, but when I phoned Matt to ask if I could, he said no. Haha...
What do you guys like to do near your house?
Love and stuff
